COOLIT2000 Series FAQ'S

How loud is the COOLIT2000 Series?

The COOLIT2000 Series are designed for indoor applications and we use advanced compressor technology to further reduce mechanical noise. The blowers or fans are all centrifugal type and reduce the air noise of the unit. The dB rating for this unit varies because of the installation methods but is typically less than 52 dB.

Does the unit make water? What happens with the condensate?

Yes, the COOLIT2000 Series is a true air conditioner and some moisture is removed from the air which results in condensate. The condensate collects in the two condensate tanks located behind the bottom of the front door. When the tanks fill up, the control panel will display a yellow light to let you know that the tanks are full.  If the tanks are not emptied within a short time (the time period just depends on how humid the room/application is) then the control panel will display a red light which will result in the shut down of the unit.  This prevents condensate overflow.  To clear the yellow/red lights the two condensate tanks must be emptied and put back into the unit correctly.

How often will I need to empty the tanks?

Condensate generation is based on various temperature and humidity levels as well as user installation and control settings. In the warm, humid summer months the amount of condensate generated will be greater than in the cool, dry winter months. Maximum condensate generation is .5 gallons per hour.

How large is the condensate tanks?

The internal condensate tanks hold approximately 2.5 gallons each which totals five gallons.

What if I need to run my COOLIT 24/7?

The COOLIT2000 Series has an built-in internal condensate pump that can be field installed to allow continuous uninterrupted cooling. The pump has a 15’ lift capability which will get you up to the drop ceiling level and allow for connection to a drain line.

How long can the condensate line be?

The COOLIT2000 Series has a condensate pump built-in that comes with 25' of 3/8" plastic tubing.  You may require more tubing than what is supplied with the pump.  You can either attach the new section of tubing to the supplied tubing with a coupler or purchase a new section of tubing to fit the required length of your condensate drain line.  You can go as far with the tubing as long as you keep the tubing sloping down at an angle.  Again if you need to go a long distance to your drain then we recommend that you go up as much as you can (up to 15') then go towards your drain with the tubing sloping down at an angle.

Do I need to vent the unit to the outside?

No, you do not need to vent the COOLIT2000 Series to the outside. If you are cooling an enclosed equipment environment you do need to discharge the condenser air (warm air) out of the space you are trying to cool. The air discharge kit, included with each COOLIT2600 unit, will allow for condenser air discharge into the ceiling plenum area.

How far can I duct the unit?

The air discharge kit that comes with the COOLIT2000 Series has enough flexible duct to reach the ceiling of a standard commercial building. You can add more duct but you must keep your duct run as straight as possible. The maximum duct run for the condenser air is 25’. For each 90 degree bend you must subtract 10’ from your maximum duct run length.

What kind of maintenance is required?

Unit maintenance is quick and easy. The COOLIT2000 Series has a totally sealed refrigeration system. It should not be necessary to recharge your unit. The only regular preventative maintenance is cleaning the washable filter. If you are using the built-in condensate pump then you will need to keep the drain line clear.

What do I need to do if I am going to store the unit?

Before storing the unit you want to ensure the evaporator coil is dry and the condensate is emptied from the tanks and pump.  To do this you would operate the COOLIT2000 Series in the fan mode for about 5 minutes to dry out the evaporator coil and get all the moisture off of the coil. Turn the unit off, empty the condensate tanks, and empty the condensate pump.  Next wipe down the cabinet with a soft cloth and mild detergent. Your COOLIT unit will be in prime shape when your next cooling need arises.

COOLIT2000 Series Application FAQ'S

How large of an area can I cool with the COOLIT2000 Series?

That depends on what is in the area you are trying to cool. All air conditioning units are rated in BTU, or British Thermal Unit, which is a unit of measure. There are 12,000 BTU to 1 ton of air conditioning. For equipment cooling we need to determine the amount of power being used by the equipment in the room so we can do a basic heat load calculation.
TOP OF PAGE

How cold can I get my LAN room?

There is no way to tell. The COOLIT2000 Series will give you approximately a 20F temperature differential – for instance, if your room is 80F, the unit will deliver approximately 60F air. This does not mean that your room will be 60F. . . that all depends on the heat load in the room.
TOP OF PAGE

Can I put the COOLIT2000 Series on my UPS?

Absolutely, as long as the UPS is properly sized.
TOP OF PAGE

Can I plug into an extension cord?

We do not recommend that you operate the COOLIT2000 Series using an extension cord.
TOP OF PAGE

Do I need a dedicated circuit to run the COOLIT2000 Series?

The COOLIT2000 Series is a mechanical device and could potentially put noise onto the line when the compressor starts and stops. A dedicated line is not required but would certainly be recommended if your computer and electronic equipment is not protected by a UPS or surge suppresser.
TOP OF PAGE

What other accessory items do I need for my application?

The COOLIT2000 Series comes complete with the air discharge kit which contains everything you need to duct out the condenser air. The standard ducting kit allows you to duct the warm air into the drop ceiling area, a return air duct or through a wall.
TOP OF PAGE

Who can I get to install my COOLIT2000 Series?

The COOLIT2000 Seris is designed for quick set-up.  IF YOU CAN UNPACK THE BOX, YOU CAN SET UP THE UNIT.  Installation requires no tools; accessory parts simply slide in place or snap together. If you elect to use the optional built-in condensate pump you may require the services of a handyman or plumber, depending on the location of your condensate drain line.
